    Description

    For sale is a superb quality Victorian Gorham sterling aesthetic period ladies’ calling card case.
    The case is 4 1/8 inches long by 2 ¼ inches wide and weighs 83 grams.
    It has large oval cartouches on either side, surrounded by embossed scrolls.
    Both cartouches have a stippled finish and a light gilding.
    One has a finely engraved bird, and the other a monogram of “N.C.R.”.
    The case has an attached aesthetic box link wrist chain.
    It is marked on the interior rim with an old Gorham trademark and “STERLING” on one side and “166” and “L” on the other.
    The “L” date code dates it to 1879.


    Condition on the case is very good.
    There are some light scratches across the monogram that are apparent in certain light, but nothing bad.
    A gorgeous old card case!
